We caught up with Sam, New Business Team Leader in Bradford, who shared a little bit about his career at Vanquis...

Tell us about your journey at Vanquis so far…

I’ve been at Vanquis for three years starting in my 2015. When I started I was a New Business Associate so a customer contact centre agent for 18 months before becoming a Resolution Specialist. Six months into that I then became a New Business Team Leader managing one of the teams I was previously part of when I joined.

What’s the support been like since you’ve been here?

The support network since day one has been fantastic. Whether that’s from the Team Leaders as an agent, or now from the department managers, you’re never short of support here and I’d like to think that’s part of the reason I’ve progressed so quickly here.

The best thing was that when I was first seconded to a Team Leader role, I had very little people management experience but because of the track record I had in the department, they were willing to take a risk and allowed me to progress into that role. The New Business Management team, especially senior management have been very supportive from the start which I’d like to think will continue into any future prospects I have within the company as well.

What’s it like to work at Vanquis?

It’s very friendly, particularly in Bradford but I know it’s the same in our Chatham and London offices as well. Very outgoing, very social and welcoming.

Where do you see yourself in a year at Vanquis?

In a year or two’s time, given the rate of progression I’ve has so far ideally I’d like to be a Manager within one of the specialist teams within at Vanquis - hopefully within a year or two I expect that to happen for me.

“Whilst we’ve grown there's still an underlying entrepreneurial vibe."
