From 1st-4th August, 40 of our finest athletes journeyed to Coventry to take part in our third successive Corporate Games. Our colleagues embodied the Vanquis value of Hungry For Better and Act like it's yours over the weekend, pushing themselves to the limit and even brought home some medals!
The Corporate Games is the world's largest multisport festival for businesses across Europe to come together, engage in some friendly competition in activities ranging from football to poker, while exercising their team spirit and networking with their colleagues and other businesses.
Our colleagues across Bradford, Chatham and London joined together to represent Vanquis in nine sporting events which included badminton, cycling, dragon boat racing, football, go karting, golf, poker, table tennis, and the 5k run.
Just a few highlights:
1st place - Jamie in the cycling. He bravely fought for Vanquis's first ever gold medal at the games despite suffering an injury as a result of some foul play by a competitor.
2nd place - Ali in the table tennis – bringing home a silver medal, and saving any blushes after claiming at the start of the weekend that he "hadn't lost a game in 20 years".
Alongside this we had several teams/individuals reach the final rounds of their events and place in the top 8!
