We asked some of our recent Grads “Why did you enjoy your rotation in the Digital Transformation team?”
Here’s what they said...
Amy (Joined us as a Graduate in 2016)
After I completed the grad scheme I chose to pursue a career in Digital, and it continues to be an exciting department to work in. I’ve had a couple of roles within the team, leading me to my current role as Digital Insight Analyst.
The COVID-19 pandemic will reshape digital banking, and working in the Digital Transformation team means I have a direct influence on how we shape Vanquis’ digital products and services for our customers. No two days are the same as there is such a variety of projects to work on and although we’re a small team, the breadth of work spans across the WHOLE business from Customer, Marketing, Ops and IT… to name a few!

Digital Transformation was my first rotation on the Ops Leadership Grad Scheme. The team has a very close-knit culture. I quickly got to know everyone, and importantly, who to go to for help. Everyone in the team, up through senior managers, the head of and director, are always more than happy to help. One of my first ever projects was analysing the customer acquisition journey and finding friction points that our customers/potential customers might face.
My most notable project was driving a relationship between Vanquis and a new commercial partner in a mission to make credit more accessible for thousands of customers. I built great connections with the CFO and CEO of the partner company, as well as building my internal network across all three Vanquis sites. My capabilities were stretched well out of my comfort zone, and although it was tough, I had countless lines of support and created brilliant foundations to pass on to the next grad in this rotation, to bring the partnership to fruition!

I enjoyed how rewarding it was to work in the Digital Transformation team. The team plays such a huge role in supporting our customers day-to-day management of their account. Since the app was launched in 2017, the team have helped support over a million customers self-serve and keep up to date with their finances – either through the app or recently with Vanquis Online Banking. The team regularly looks for new ways to improve these platforms, make sure that the services we provide are up to scratch and, most importantly, suitable for every single one of our customers. Customer testing sessions are key to this – we hold these sessions every month and it provides us with great insight into what customers expect from our digital channels, as we want to make sure customers have all the tools necessary to be able to easily manage their account, 24/7.
James (Joined us as a Graduate in 2018)
I spent 10 months in my rotation with the Digital Transformation team, mainly working on developing one of our acquisition channels ‘Refer A Friend’. This work had me hosting meetings with senior stakeholders, as well as creating product decks to showcase change proposals for overall product enhancement.
In the team, I was always strongly encouraged to drive my own development and create my own opportunities. With the encouragement and guidance from my manager, I pursued opportunities to take on more responsibility and learn more about the wider business.
A role with Digital Transformation will frequently present new opportunities that stretch your current capabilities in order for you to develop yourself. These can take many forms and vary from managing key stakeholder meetings, to producing insight reports for transformative ideas. The team works with every single department which gives you opportunities to meet colleagues around the bank, and build your own personal brand that supports your career development plan.
