First impressions: Ruan, Customer Analyst

We had a quick 5 minute catch up with Ruan who joined us recently as a Customer Analyst. We spoke all about his first impressions, career development and what makes the Customer Analytics team great...

How long have you been at Vanquis?
I have been with Vanquis for a full 2 months. Before Vanquis I was involved in Mathematics Education research and the teaching of A-Level Mathematics.

What are your first impressions of the team?
Always Busy… The Customer Analytics team is always busy with some sort of analytics or problem-solving. The team and actually everybody that I have met so far at Vanquis are also very friendly and really helpful.

What are you currently working on?
My main focus at currently revolves around the development and analytics of our Next Best Action (NBA) project. NBA’s are the actions displayed to our customer service agents when a customer phones in. These actions, driven by current data, ensures that our agent communicate the best possible information to the customer.

Why did you choose Vanquis?
I was looking for a company where I could advance my data career by developing both my analytical and programming skills. After speaking and engaging with various people at Vanquis, I quickly realised that the company was committed to the development of their employees. Having been here for just over two months now, I have had both internal and external development, using programs such as SQL, SAS and HIVE.

What makes the Customer Analytics team great?
