The UK App Awards recognise and celebrate excellence in apps developed in the UK or for the UK market. The awards were judged by an influential panel of around fifteen industry experts ranging from a Mobile Lead at Google to a Non-Executive Director from Just Eat.
We were shortlisted against several apps including the Veygo app which is a new brand by Admiral offering customers' short term car insurance. The judges said that the Vanquis Bank app was "based on solid thinking, with a well structured plan and execution that brings measurable benefit for their clients and users".
Jade Whyton, Mobile Product Owner, and Mark Bailey, Software Engineer, represented Vanquis at the ceremony and said "'It was a great night, and an even better result! We pride ourselves on building an app that delivers the best outcome for our customers, and it was great that this was recognised by the judges. This award is the result of months of hard work from a huge number of people. It's a fantastic achievement that we could even be shortlisted for this accolade, let alone win it. Here's to many more!"
The Vanquis Bank app was entered for the award by Chelsea App Factory (CAF), who were our digital partner when we first started out on the journey of bringing our app in-house.
CAF wrote the following on their blog: "Who'd have thought when we first started building the product backlog all those months ago that it would result in an app that prompted nearly 80K customer reviews across the stores, a 4.8 star app on the app store. It was a great honour to win the award and testament to the hard work and dedication of team members past and present."
