Thank you. Everyone at Vanquis and the Group has been so supporting and encouraging, especially my team who endure my inquisitive personality! I’m looking forward to contributing more to the team and the wider business. I am equally excited about the new challenges and learnings that come with the new role.
I was a master’s student at Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh before I joined Provident Financial Group (Vanquis’s parent company) in their Analytics and Leadership Graduate scheme based in Bradford. I worked across many different analytics functions within the Group before permanently joining Vanquis in the Commercial Analytics team in June 2018. With this I relocated from our Bradford office to our London office which has been a brilliant experience.
I was recently promoted to a Senior Strategic Analyst within my team, but this also involves some responsibility in PFG’s Satsuma brand. With Satsuma, I have worked on the profitability models to improve partner performance and report the key performance metrics for the business. On the Vanquis side, I am currently looking at sub channel activity tracking and the NPV modelling for direct mail and tracking sub channel activity.
The senior management team, and especially my manager, places a lot of emphasis on personal development. My personal development plan has a mix of both technical and soft skills, which are equally important.
A highlight for me personally, was that I was given the opportunity to be involved with the Women In Data event that we hosted here at Vanquis. This was the first time I had ever spoken in front of 100 people and I organised a ‘Human Bingo’ networking which received positive feedback. Although daunting at first, I think getting over the hurdle has boosted my confidence greatly which has had lasting impact.
The people. I work with awesome people, who are both fantastic at their job and care about the development of the people around. Proactiveness and understanding the bigger picture are encouraged. Coming to work here is a lot more than just doing what fits into your job description, there are also opportunities to get involved in important issues such as gender diversity and inclusion, mental health, giving back to the community and speaking up.
Do it! It’s an exciting time to join as there is a lot of change happening and different opportunities to get involved with. There are a lot of talented people to learn from and work with. The learning and development team are fully engaged and are always championing and supporting us to do better. Proactive personal development conversations are encouraged.
