Although it may sound cheesy, we are like a family here in Bradford. Everyone here is so friendly and gets on really well which creates a brilliant energy in the office. It’s a really diverse group of people which promotes a positive culture and a professional environment to work in.
In terms of location, working in Bradford is a big plus. Our office is less than a 10 minute walk from both Bradford Interchange and Forster Square train stations and there are many bus routes nearby. I live in Leeds and it’s so easy for me to get to work. There is also the option to use the Leeds-Bradford Cycle Superhighway for the cyclists among us. I can’t say I have used that, but I know some people that do! We’re also surrounded by Yorkshire Countryside so if you enjoy a long walk and a country pub then you’ll do well here!
We have lots of opportunities to get involved in Provident Financial’s Social Impact Programme and support our local communities, with a focus on areas more likely to face social and financial exclusion.
As a large employer in the area, PFG takes on a significant responsibility to help uplift and encourage young people into work. I recently got involved in a Career Carousel event at Victoria Hall in Saltaire. We showcased our roles at Vanquis to over 70 high school/sixth form students – they were able to ask us, and other employers, questions about available careers and how to help them get into work. It was a really great experience.
We’re extremely lucky to have our on-site restaurant “Our Street” that offers subsidised food and drink, and there is always lots of options choose from. Every month, all colleagues receive a free lunch, and free tea, coffee and fruit is available everyday. Apart from food (!) there is a Nuffield gym onsite again at a subsidised rate that offers classes Monday – Friday.
We’re a very social office. There are constantly social events been arranged, whether it be drinks and going out for food, or charity fundraisers and bake offs! Sunbridge Wells is a new favourite among colleagues. It’s a new underground retail complex with shops, restaurants and bars, all built in the tunnels in Bradford. You’ll often find people there having after work drinks on a Friday!
